Patricia Izzo was recently recognized by American Photo magazine as one of the "hottest new talents" and an artist "destined for big things." This premier national magazine showcasing the work of professional photographers singled out her work from nearly 60,000 submissions. Izzo has a B. S. in Art Education and a graduate assistantship in her Masters of Art in photography and painting from Northern Michigan University. Classically trained in both photography and oil painting, these two talents are synthesized together harmoniously in her hand-illustrated photographs. Further, her reliance on the subject matter for inspiration and her use of natural light makes her work stand out. Izzo in her own words says, "the camera, the subject, and the photographer are connected by the same creative spirit." And it is this creative and collaborative spirit which is apparent to and inspires those who have seen her work.

Patricia has received numerous awards both nationally and internationally. Her work is included in the Detroit Institute of Arts, University of Michigan Museum, the Mira Godard Center, Ryson University, Toronto Canada among others. She has twice been awarded the prestigious Gold Medal, in the annual state-wide Michigan Photographic Competition. She is also part of the Detroit Focus 2000 Portfolio.
